A Promise of a Better Tomorrow
At a very young age, Gary experienced the kind of loss that most kids his age never have to face. His mother, whom he was very much attached to, passed away under mysterious circumstances. Several years later, his father passed away after losing his leg in a job-related accident.
On the cusp of giving up hope, Gary found MUST to be a place of refuge and the promise of a better tomorrow. The weekly events provided an outlet for him to engage with other youths in the program and build a sense of community. An emphasis on academics from his mentor also encouraged him to stay focused on graduating from high school. He’s currently aiming at studying music production at a community college in Tacoma.
